The Cattledogs are coming!
The Farm and Ranch Museum will be hosting the National Cattledog Finals on May 6-9. This event will be held at the Farm And Ranch Museum and is sanction by the United States Border Collie Handler's Association (USBCHA). Some of the top ranked dogs from throughout the US and Canada will be competing for prizes and for the title of the champion!
There are 2 classes for qualifying dogs. The open Class is for the top 20% of all dogs competing in sanctioned cattle trials throughout the qualifying year. The Nursery Class is for the top 20% of dogs that are 36 months or younger on or before December 31 of the year prior to the Nursery Finals. See you there!
Red Steagall Appearance to Benefit FARM May 21, 2010
Red Steagall will be coming to Five rocks Amphitheater in Gering for a benefit performance for the Farm And Ranch Museum on May 21, 2010. Steagall is a multi-talented show business person whose career has covered the Official Cowboy Poet of Texas and has spanned the globe. In 1991, he was named the Official Cowboy Poet of Texas and has hosted his own Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in the Stockyards National Historic District in Ft. Worth. He was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City in 2003 and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2004. He was made "2006 Poet Laureate of the State of Texas," the first "cowboy"poet to recieve the honor. He is heard locally on KNEB radio in his program "Cowboy Corner." Regional West Medical Center, 21st Century Equipment Pinnacle Bank of Torrington and Mitchell, and Westco will also be sponsoring the event.
